A break in the Christmas rush filled with the most beautiful voices and moods from Christmas in the Nordic countries. The vocal ensemble Ars Nova Copenhagen’s traditional Christmas concert this year presents music by, among others, Grieg, Sibelius, Nielsen, Lidholm, Gjeilo, Thorvaldsdottir and Nørholm. It’s “Nordic Christmas”.

The ensemble’s singers and chief conductor Sofi Jeannin has put together a program that reflects that the group’s members come from the Nordic countries. Which songs warm Swedish hearts at Christmas time? What stories do you hear by the fireplace in Norway? And are the Christmas carols of Sibelius actually the most beautiful in the whole Nordic region? Or is it the Danish Christmas hymns that, in their simplicity, contain the Christmas spirit? You may be able to get answers to that and much more on this occasion.

Ars Nova Copenhagen has over a long period established itself as one of the world’s finest vocal ensembles, with a sound and quality that few others can match. The group has toured in more than 40 countries, most recently in 2024 to the USA, Italy, Germany and the Faroe Islands. In addition to a fixed annual concert season in the Danish. Ars Nova has won several awards for their many album releases, including an American Grammy. Previous chief conductors include prominent names such as Bo Holten, Tamas Vetö and Paul Hillier.
